60th Anniversary Celebration Luncheon
On Monday April 17th, 2017 we held our 60th anniversary celebration luncheon at the Charcoal Steakhouse in Kitchener.  Thank you to Claudette Smith, President of GCO for attending & congratulating us.  It was a wonderful event.  Our celebrations included words from Claudette Smith, recognition of our new Life Members, introduction of our newest member, recognition of our Honorary members in attendance and recognition of our past presidents in attendance.  Most importantly ... we enjoyed the company of very special friends!

... hats & gloves, celebrating the formation of the Garden Club of Kitchener Waterloo 60 years ago.  Lots of reminiscing, photo displays and anniversary cake! 
A very special thank you to Janet Schoenhofer for putting together a fantastic photo display which was enjoyed by all.

In August of this year, eight of our members attended a tour of "Gardens and Estates of the Hudson River Valley" in New York state.  We visited three private gardens which were absolutely divine & eight Estate gardens which were overwhelming. It was a wonderful learning experience, a time to make new friends and a gardener's delight.

The Garden Club of Kitchener Waterloo in 1994 was the recipient of a monetary gift given by Donald Stuart in memory of his wife Betty who was President of the Club from 1972 to 1974. The President of the day commissioned a search for a fitting and lasting memorial. At the time the Rotary Centre was in the first stages of construction on a 10 acre property in Waterloo. The Centre’s mission is to ‘cultivate the potential’ of physically challenged children and youth. The plan included an entrance garden and this idea appealed to the Club, we matched the gift donation, and so our civic project was born. Members with expertise in landscaping and extensive knowledge and interest in horticulture came together to plan gardens to delight the senses of everyone who frequents the Centre. You will find members working in the garden on Tuesday mornings throughout the growing season.
This year we have added this brightly coloured Orb mounted on a stone, which was placed in the garden on April 23, 2016
