The Judges
Active judges have passed all the requirements to become a Design Judge accredited by the Garden Clubs of Ontario, a Horticultural Judge accredited by the Royal Botanical Gardens, or both. Judges are not permitted to judge in a discipline in which they are not accredited.
Every two years, active judges are required to submit an Application for Renewal of Good Standing to Judges’ Council detailing his/her activities and pay the required fee. Activities include judging assignments, exhibiting, serving on flower show committees, attending or presenting workshops, attendance at Judges’ Council seminars and other educational pursuits (i.e. mini demos at society/club meetings, newsletter articles, shadow judging etc.).
Judges are continually updating their knowledge and skills. Not only do active judges adjudicate at flower shows but many lecture and present workshops to interested groups.
